Aug 23 - The Opiate Crisis, Presented by Vermont PBS and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, Brings The Hungry Heart to Broadcast

Vermont PBS is honoring National Recovery Month this September by bringing two poignant local films by Bess O’Brien to air: the award-winning The Hungry Heart, which looks at the often-hidden world of prescription drug abuse through pediatrician Dr. Fred Holmes and his patients, and Here Today, which addresses the ravaging effects of heroin addiction on Vermont families. These films will be part of a network event called The Opiate Crisis: Stories and Solutions, that will utilize these films as a way to convene discussions around the tragedy of the opiate addiction crisis and together with the Vermont community, seek solutions. Download full release (pdf)

Aug 14 - Vermont PBS Brings Ken Burns’ and Lynn Novick’s Epic Series The Vietnam War to Broadcast and to Communities throughout Vermont

The Vietnam War, a new 10-part, 18-hour documentary film series co-directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, will premiere September 17 on Vermont PBS. Ten years in the making, the project is widely considered to be Burns’ most ambitious yet. The monumental look at this challenging piece of history features dozens of people at the epicenter of the country’s Vietnam experience, from veterans to journalists to protesters, along with voices from both South and North Vietnam. Download full release (pdf)

July 11, 2017 - Sixth Annual PBS Online Film Festival Features Two Independent

Films from Vermont PBS
Vermont PBS announced today that two of the 25 films featured in the PBS Online Film Festival were submitted by the station. The sixth annual, Webby Award-nominated film festival takes place on July 17-28. The Collinwood Fire by Middlebury filmmaker Daniel Houghton and State Trooper by South Burlington filmmaker Michael Fisher are among those featured in this year’s Festival. Download full release (pdf)

June 29, 2017 - "Vermont This Week" Heads North To Visit Montreal

Vermont PBS today announced a special international edition of "Vermont This Week." Premiering July 7, the new episode will be originate in Montreal at the studios of the CTV and will zero in on the hot-button cross-border issues facing Canada and Vermont. Download full release (pdf)

March 30, 2017 - Vermont PBS and RETN Partner to Bring Viewers Four Montreal Films from the National Film Board of Canada

Vermont PBS and RETN today announced a key partnership that allows both organizations to air four films from the National Film Board of Canada. All four films provide unique views and explore the interesting people of Montreal. Dubbed “Of Montreal,” the series is an exploration of various aspects of life and culture in Montreal. Download full release (pdf)

March 29, 2017 - Vermont PBS and Champlain Valley Head Start Partner on Parents + Preschool Program

Vermont PBS and Champlain Valley Head Start today announced a key partnership that will work with parents of preschool-aged children to increase their digital literacy and engagement in their child’s education. Parents + Preschool is an innovative program that brings together educational resources including Vermont PBS’ children’s content, certified early-education teachers, and low-cost technology options to help bridge the digital divide for economically disadvantaged families.

February 24, 2017 - Vermont PBS and Find & Go Seek Partner to Reach Kids, Families with Quality Content

Vermont PBS and Find & Go Seek, an online guide to kid-friendly fun in Vermont, announced today a partnership that allows both organizations to provide fun, locally sourced, educational content for Vermont kids and families.

February 17, 2017 - Vermont PBS Participates in FCC Spectrum Auction Expands Community Commitment in 50th Anniversary Year

Vermont PBS announced today that it accepted a bid of $56 million for one of its four broadcast licenses, WVTA, in the Federal Communications Commission’s spectrum auction. Download full release (pdf)

January 13, 2017 - Vermont PBS Deepens Commitment to Young Families with the Launch of Vermont PBS Kids Channel

Vermont PBS announced today the launch of a brand new channel and web stream just for families, Vermont PBS Kids. January 10, 2017 - Six-part TV Series on Vermont's Local Food Movement to Air on Vermont PBS Starting January 19, 2017

Vermont PBS and The Skinny Pancake are pleased to announce The Local Motive, a new, six-part television series that explores Vermont’s Farm to Plate food system, the most comprehensive local food system plan in the country. The Local Motive will air on Vermont PBS starting Thursday, January 19, 2017. The project is a collaboration between The Skinny Pancake, Vermont PBS and Jaime Williams of Von Dier Video Productions. Download full release (pdf)

January 3, 2017 - Vermont PBS to Carry Governor Scott’s Inauguration Live

Phil Scott’s Inauguration as the Governor of Vermont will be carried live on Vermont PBS on Thursday, January 5 starting at 1:30. Vermont PBS will carry the live broadcast on its main channel, stream it live at, and also broadcast it via Facebook Live.
